Vancouver Island Salmon Fishing

Vancouver Island Salmon Fishing

Salmon fishing on Vancouver Island’s north west coast in Kyuquot Sound is unbeatable!  Our early season (June through mid-July) has excellent inshore fishing, one of our main spots is the “Spring Island Tack” which is situated only 2 miles from our dock!  During this time we are fishing shallow waters (40ft), light tackle, straight anchovies and no inline flasher.  This is one of the funnest fisheries around, and we consistently catch large 25+ lb Chinook!  This is one of our guests at Spring Island. Mid- July until the beginning of September we have many reefs, rocks and offshore options for Salmon fishing. The Coho move in and you can keep your limits of Chinook and Coho, the Kyuquot Reef, a few miles offshore from Spring Island is very productive for your salmon, catching your limits daily is the norm.  Later in the year we head even farther offshore to the well known “Salmon Highway” where you can’t keep your line in the water!  This offshore “continental shelf” is around 10 miles from our dock and the water is alive.  Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon and all your other species of fish live in these waters.  All the Salmon heading to the rivers south of us including the Columbia River, swim right past Kyuquot, creating a unique and consistent fishery, we have salmon all season!   Offshore techniques include, hoochie-flasher, spoon-flasher and plugs. Here are a few more great salmon photos, on the water at Rugged Point Lodge!      ...
