Womens' Fishing Derby 2018
Rugged Point Lodge’s First Women’s Derby!
We are so excited to host our first annual Women’s Derby!! Come and join the fun! Our 4day/3night Derby will be packed with some great fishing and great prizes to be won! The dates for 2018 are June 11th – 14th!
Each boat will fish three lady anglers and the lodge will be ready for you… our chef will have an awesome Mexican themed dinner after the first full day of fishing. Each day will be full of different prizes:
First nights winner will be largest salmon. First full day fishing and second full day fishing will have prizes for: smallest fish, ugliest fish, hidden weight prizes, largest salmon and largest halibut! Then overall whole trip Grand prize will be for largest salmon!
A lot of fun – Women who love to fish!
We think it is so great for ladies to get out fishing… being in the fishing industry for years, we notice more and more lady anglers. These ladies have a lot of fish to catch, weigh in and prizes! Every evening after dinner Madeline will announce the winners 🙂 Fish all day, then sit back and mingle, pour a drink, enjoy our chefs meals, relax and enjoy!
A huge thank you to all of our sponsors! All of our amazing donated prizes!
Safe and Modern Dock
Next to our lodge is our dock with a nice aluminum ramp and 5 ft. wide walkway down to where all of our boats and fish care are located. Grab a seat at the end of the night and watch the sunset from our dock!
We are located on a small island with some nice walking paths, one leads to outside beach which is a must do to check out the giant trees and rugged west coast beach or head out after dinner for a bon fire.
Walter’s Island also has a small convenience store and post office, a few houses mostly owned as summer getaway cabins and a restaurant – coffee shop with the best Latte’s in town!
By Boat or Plane
Access to the lodge is either by boat or plane. Most of our guests drive to Fair Harbour, a small parking lot/fuel station 14 miles up the inlet where we pick you up by boat at 1:30pm on your arrival day. Other options of getting here include a shuttle from the Comox Airport or a float plane charter from Campbell River or Vancouver.
